The Spirit of Phoenix – A Chant

Rise ye Spirit from the deep,
Spreading invisible wings for vast flight—
Sing out loudly the love of life
And peace on earth of our song.
Higher, higher do soar,
Showing your invincible might.
Bring eyes to those that are blind—
Banish our worldly thoughts,
Whisking the sleep from heavy laden lids.
We look without sight—
Our senses are dulled.

I have perched on this coast,
To watch the tide rise up

Whenever the soul’s descent ceases
   The building process can begin
   To revive the inner strength lost
   When mortal darkness grew within.
With hope commences the release 
   From our soul’s rebirthing desire
      And the appeal for earthly gain,
      Which was purchased at any cost
      And whose pleasures reaped only pain.
   Sown seeds of hope help to inspire
Our growing faith for the peace
   On earth that every soul requires
   When climbing paths ever higher.

Innocence Revisited

The crumbling of our protective walls
Leaves us standing innocently naked,
Opened to Love, vulnerable,
And immersed solely in the moment;
No yesterdays and no tomorrows,
Only the Indefinable, Eternal Now.

Feeling the flower grow,
We suddenly approach God,
Becoming One.

Frustrations caused by our inability
     To communicate
          with each other
          And Nature
     Have pushed us
          Over the edge
          Of living
          And feeling life.
The importance of every
     Seed,
     Leaf,
     Branch,
     Limb,
     And Trunk,
     Of every tree,
     Seem often overlooked;
          For they are as
          Individually different
          As each and every
          One of us.
