  Metamorphosis

  Halted during its slow journey to the other side,
  A common turtle lay clumsily split in two.
  His natural armor offered little protection
  From Man’s four-wheel driven nightmare,
  And he became just another unlisted casualty.
  
  As the surging ocean’s unrelenting roar
  Announces the arrival of land’s end,
  A hummingbird prepares for birthing
  By hurriedly picking dandelion seeds
  To further warm her soon to be filled nest.

  Various books of scripture lay
     For our opened eyes to see,
     A testament from all cultures
     Of the world that is to be.
  In spectrum’s spiritual array
     Peoples of all colors and creeds
        In silent reverence converse,
        Warning of temptation’s vultures
        That pilot desire’s mortal hearse.
     In scripture Providence’s seed
  Is sown to grow and show the way
     For man to quench his thirstful need

  Greetings

  At last!  Blue sky on the horizon,
  Or is it another approaching storm?
  It’s getting harder and harder to tell.
          Is that snow drifting,
          Or cherry blossoms carried
          In the wind of life’s passing?
  And who really knows if it’s winter,
          Spring, summer or fall?
  
  All substance seems forever lost
  In these short notes seldom written;
          And once more, out of touch,
          Lost in, or out of time,
  This reflection takes a deep breath
  And gathers the strength to continue
  Its purgatorial existence
  As merely a shadow of itself.
