Preface
Dreams. Whether inside or outside of the state of sleep, the subject is limited only by our imagination. They must be considered one of the cornerstones of that which makes us human.
Dream Fragment 19 begins with “The Promise”, which visually came as words in a dream. “The Dream Shelf” ends this collection of metaphysical poetry and explores the personal dreams of one’s life course. Throughout the book, interspersed with other poems, one will encounter many variations on this timeless theme.
Isn’t the creative act a weaving in and out of dreams? Where is the dividing line between dreams and the so called waking state? Is there a possibility of overlap? These are some of the questions many of us began formulating during childhood, after being confronted with the following well known rhyme:
Merrily, merrily,
Merrily, merrily,
Life is but a dream.
