Paths I, vii

The cherished balance eludes us
   As the scales tip from right to left;
   Again we are disoriented,
   Vacillation leaving us bereft.
This chosen path of exodus
   From a life of material gain
      Is often hazardously steep;
      Methodically it must be tread
      To avoid the bottomless deep.
   With balance finally regained
We gaze at the Light around us,
   And succumbing to total strain
   Sleepily greet the warm falling rain.
